  •  Make sure that you are using the right recipe and following the correct procedure to prepare the coffee enema. If you have prepared it using an incorrect recipe or instructions, this is probably causing you the trouble.
  • While administering the coffee enema, control the flow of the coffee as needed and keep breathing.
  • The height of the enema can/enema bag should not be higher than 18’’ above your body or the coffee will flow too fast into the colon.
  • Ensure that the temperature of the enema solution is neither too hot nor too cold as it will become difficult for the patient to hold it. The temperature of the solution should always be at body temperature.
  • In case of cramping, follow this simple little trick. Place your thumb on the first knuckle of your ring finger and apply some pressure to it. This helps with alleviating cramps in the lower intestine.

If the trouble persists, you can try the advanced techniques mentioned below:
  • If you are experiencing fecal blockage due to accumulated waste, you must try a coffee enema first with 16 ounces or 500 ml approx. Rub your stomach so that the enema flows into your colon, hold it for 5 minutes and release. After this, you can perform the coffee enema.
  • Performing coffee enema as the first enema of the day can be very difficult to hold. Perform a chamomile tea enema first, followed by the coffee enema.
  •  Don’t administer all the enema solution at once. Administer half of it first followed by another half of it.
  • Get rid of all the air bubbles from the enema hose first and then administer the enema.
